Porec, along with Istria, is mainly known as the most popular tourist place in entire Croatia. If you spend your holiday in Porec, you experience city along with the facility, tourism, agreeable sun and hot ocean. In the 70’sin previous century, Porec was the center of Croatian tourism. A lot historical monuments in the center of the city indicate that Porec has monuments like: basilica Eufrazijeva, a church from the 6th century during Neptune’s age, Roman cottages etc. Eufrazijeva Basilica is one of the older and most handsome monuments in Porec and Istria and it is under UNESCOs care. The roof of basilica is tart up along with a lot of mosaic, along with another church, St. Vitale in Staggering, are mainly known as the most famous mosaic examples in Europe. The floor mosaic demonstrates all stages of the construction, rehabilitation, reconstitute, and the Christianity in Porec. Porec offers around 70 different sports arrangements both on land and in lakes with tennis courts located at the seaside. Porec’s history ![]() Porec The most famous culture monument Bizant left was Eufrazijeva Bazilik, 600 years old. From 1267 and 500 years further on, Porec was under Venice’s control. After the Venetian era, dashing castles and architecture were left. In 1363 the place becomes a city later and in 15th century tall walls were built along the coast as it is today. In 1815, with Wien’s peace negotiations and after Napoleon, Porec was under Austria. From 1861 Porec the capitol city of Istria until end of today World's war. In the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century Porec get more and more built and developed. The castle of the city, theater, high school, gym halls, two pools, old folks home, the first hotels…After the II world war, the tourism explodes and Porec becomes the biggest tourist location on the coast. The whole city is like a monument. In 553 A.C., a cathedral, Uznesenja Marijinog and Eufrazijeva basilica – Eufrazijana was built. The light mosaic in the entire church is one of best preserved arts from the Bizantic era. It displays Jesus with his apostles, angles, Virgin Mary along with baby Jesus on her lap, bishops from that time, especially Mauro, who was the first bishop and protector of entire Porec. The whole cathedra is carried by 2 rows of columns. Eufrazijana does also consist of an atrium, baptize place, and mosaic rests from the 3rd, 4th and 5th century which also belongs to a bishop castle close by which also comes from the era called Eufrazijana.

A new road has been built through Istria, from Pula to the Slovenian border, and the other road leads to the tunel Ucka and then to Rijeka.
The olive oil in Istria has great quality and has been famous ever since the Roman empire. Istria is one of the few places so high up north where olives are to be found.
The marine has 259 places for boats, all from 3 to 25 meters, and the maks depth is 5 meters. All places can use electrisity and water at all times.
