Eufrazijeva bazilika

The whole city is like a monument. In 553 A.C., a cathedral, Uznesenja Marijinog and Eufrazijeva basilica – Eufrazijana was built. The light mosaic in the entire church is one of best preserved arts from the Bizantic era.

It displays Jesus with his apostles, angles, Virgin Mary along with baby Jesus on her lap, bishops from that time, especially Mauro, who was the first bishop and protector of entire Porec. The whole cathedral is carried by 2 rows of columns. Eufrazijana does also consist of an atrium, baptize place, and mosaic rests from the 3rd, 4th and 5th century which also belongs to a bishop castle close by which also comes from the era called Eufrazijana.
